Gender/Power is a collaborative working methodology lead by Maya Ciarrocchi and Kris Grey. Under the banner of Gender/Power the artists produce performances, installations, workshops, and writing. Their methodology uses a transfeminist framework to directly engage with marginalized communities in order to address social justice issues around authority and gender. Rather than producing a fixed narrative, the work explores how gender presentation affects everyone regardless of their identity.
Gender/Power is a participant in the 2019 cohort of Moving Towards Justice at Gibney.
In 2016 Gender/Power received grants from the MAP Fund and the Franklin Furnace Fund to create Gender/Power Composition IV. They completed a Process Space residency from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council in December 2015.
