Gender/Power is a workshop and teaching methodology led by Maya Ciarrocchi and Kris Grey.
The project uses storytelling, personal narrative, and movement to question and reveal how participants experience authority based on the perceptions of their bodies. Rather than producing a fixed narrative, the work explores how gender presentation affects everyone regardless of their identity.
Gender/Power participated in the Moving Towards Justice cohort at Gibney and received grants and residencies from the MAP Fund, the Mertz Gilmore Foundation, the Franklin Furnace Fund, the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, and the Baryshnikov Arts Center.
Gender/Power is collaborating with Intermission, a new initiative offering artist-led experiences that elevate DE&I workplace initiatives with a spectrum of innovative, creative, and socially-conscious programming.
